SUMMARY:Membership Luncheon Presented by Vision Park Family Eye Care
DESCRIPTION:Please watch the video below from our Sponsor Vision Park Family Eye Care!\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery month members of the Urbandale Chamber come together to network\, enjoy lunch and listen to a speaker to learn about happenings in Urbandale and around the Greater Des Moines Area.\n\n\n\nWe are thrilled to welcome Lt. Col. Warren Gilbert\, former Marine Trauma Surgeon\, to share his stories and experiences serving as the oldest Colonel and surgeon on the battle field. His personal memoir\, Rifleman Doctor\, details his life his background and serving double duty as a rifleman and doctor with the Marine Corps. \n\n\n\nAbout his memoir: Warren S. Gilbert grew up on the streets of Chicago\, and no one expected him to accomplish much. Even so\, his athleticism paved the way for him to attend Drake University in Des Moines\, Iowa\, and his intellect led him to Rush Medical College. While most people would have been happy with graduating and becoming a successful physician\, he grew bored and moved to Nevada for a fresh start. But as time passed\, he sought more meaning out of life - and he found it when various branches of the armed services began calling. With his country seeking help from qualified doctors and terrorism on the rise\, he joined the US Naval Reserve. But everything changed when terrorists attacked the United States on September 11\, 2001. What was supposed to have been a detour turned into a career that would lead to some of his most memorable and meaningful moments. Join Gilbert as he looks back at serving his country\, fighting terrorists\, and excelling as a member of the US Naval Reserve and then as a physician serving with the Marine Corps. It was all part of pulling double duty as a rifleman and doctor.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Ramada Tropics Resort & Conference Center (5000 Merle Hay Rd. - Urbandale)\n\nCost: $25/members $35/nonmembers\n\n\n\nThank you to this month's sponsor: Residential & Remodeling Designs and Exhibitors: Bankers Trust Company - North Office and Upper Iowa University. \n\n\n\nDeadline to register is 48 hours before event. Any registration that comes in after this deadline will be put on a waiting list and billed an additional $5 (if space allows).\n\nPrepayment is highly encouraged and appreciated.\n\nReservations not kept will be billed.\n\n\n\nRegistrations must be canceled the day prior to the luncheon by 12 pm in order to receive a credit. If not\, you will still be billed. All cancelations must be made over the phone to ensure staff is aware of your cancelation. Thank you.
