Major and former Des Moines North football coach\, will be speaking during the March membership luncheon on March 21\, 2018 from 11:30 - 1 p.m. at the Ramada Tropics Resort.\n\n \n\nMajor Quinlan has extensive history with the USMC as well as many personal decorations including the Bronze Star with the Combat Distinguishing Device "V". He was selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in 2012 and was to be promoted that year\, however\, he made the decision to retire and spend more time with his family. Major Quinlan retired after 26 years and nine months. Upon his retirement\, he was hired as head coach of the North High School football team. As coach\, Quinlan led the team for three seasons\, including a 2-7 mark - the most wins by North since 2008. He did more than just improve the football record\, however\, he changed the lives of the boys he coached. Currently\, Quinlan is still teaching at North High.
