SUMMARY:Virtual - KEY in Des Moines - Attraction and Retention of Young Talent
DESCRIPTION:KEY in Des Moines stands for Keeping Educated Youth in Des Moines. It is a program connecting employers with area colleges and universities for workforce attraction. Every other month the group hosts free educational sessions. KEY in Des Moines is a division of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.\n\n\n\nThis month's presentation focuses on Attraction and Retention of Young Talent\n\n \nBoth prior to and in the midst of the Covid-19 landscape\, attracting and retaining young talent remains a priority for central Iowa's business community. As part of the Greater Des Moines Partnership's talent attraction initiatives Seize the City and Tallo serve as two key tools in connecting with young talent.\n\n \n\nSeize the City is an ongoing summer programming series hosted by the Greater Des Moines Partnership for all college aged students in the region each summer. The series focuses on developing skills\, networking opportunities\, and showcasing central Iowa attractions.\n\n\n\nTallo is a talent engagement platform connecting students to recruiters at higher education institutions and members of the business community. Both of these initiatives leverage community partnerships and develop relationships in the talent pipeline as The Partnership seeks to continue attracting talent to the central Iowa region and retaining the young talent we already have. This month's KEY in Des Moines presentation further discusses these initiatives and how you can be part of the ongoing work to continue growing our region!\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Speaker:\n\nSidney Pezley \n\n\n\n \n\nSidney is an Iowan born\, raised\, and educated. Originally from Pella\, Sidney attended Iowa State University where she received an undergraduate degree in Event Management. Following graduation Sidney moved to the Lehigh Valley in eastern Pennsylvania to work in enrollment events at Moravian College. After her time in PA\, Sidney accepted a position at Central College back in Pella as an Area Coordinator in Student Affairs. In 2018\, Sidney received a Masters Degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Iowa and accepted a position with the Greater Des Moines Partnership\, in Talent Development as a National Campus Recruiter for the region\; Des Moines's very own hype-woman. In her role as recruiter she travels across the country to college campuses to chat with students about career opportunities in the region.
