KEY in Des Moines stands for Keeping Educated Youth in Des Moines. It is a program connecting employers with area colleges and universities for workforce attraction. Every other month the group hosts free educational sessions. KEY in Des Moines is a division of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.
Capital Crossroads is a bold but achievable vision pushing Central Iowans to dream big, not settle for good enough, think long term, and work together. Capital Crossroads brings together nearly 700 community volunteers to meet the challenges of the future while building on our past successes. It is in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Prairie Meadows, and the United Way of Central Iowa. I’ll update the group on how we got to the current vision plan and the current projects within each of the ten focus areas.
As Capital Crossroads Director, Syverson leads the vision plan and volunteers to help the region reach its potential. Syverson has more than 13 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and management, serving at the Des Moines Community Playhouse, the Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation and the Des Moines Symphony in past roles. She has also served on numerous boards and committees throughout the region, including the Drake University and ChildServe. Syverson was a Juice YP of the Year finalist and one of the Des Moines Business Record’s Forty Under 40. She is a Drake University alum and lives in Des Moines with her husband, Jay, and children, Quinn (7) and Charlie (4).
